DocsPad, Lets users view and edit any document online acquired by Yahoo!

I ndian Start-up Company Bookpad has been acquired by Yahoo. Bookpad was incubated at the Karnataka Government-backed Startup Warehouse in Bangalore. As reported by The Economic Times, the Internet giant has apparently snapped up the company for roughly $8.3 million and The Times of India says the deal is likely to have been agreed upon for the higher price of $15 million. The company is known its product DocsPad. Lets users view and edit any document within a website or App. Unlike Google Docs or Microsoft Office 365, it is not a consumer-facing service. DocsPad has been designed to simplify editing documents online. It provides an API that can get integrated into services and apps allowing for editing of various file types including - Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF, ODT, ODP, ODX, ePub 2.0 and most common image formats. FireChat - Brilliant new App will keep you messaging even when there’s no Internet

F ireChat is an app that lets you messaging to people within 200 feet of your location without an internet connection - but this 'Nearby' mode was previously limited to showing chats from those using the same operating system. This was because the app used Apple’s MultiPeer Connectivity Framework in iOS 7, but made use of its own mesh networking technology on Android devices. The company behind FireChat, Open Garden, says this was made possible through the development of a peer-to-peer mesh networking technology across iOS and Android. Open Garden CEO and Co-founder Micha Benoliel said that off-the-grid messaging between iOS and Android helps people connect even when there is no infrastructure, though the 200 feet limitation does make you wonder why you can’t simply talk directly to the person you want to reach instead.
